Classy Cards Floral Birdcage

Hi!  I've been wanting to use this birdcage die for a while but never picked it up.  I started playing with the cage and flowers and then kept going.

I cut the Memory Box Tiffany frame twice  to create the shadow using black card stock.  The birdcage and top Tiffany frame were colored with Antique Bronze Distress Metallic Stain.  The distress stain adds a lovely sheen.  I also sponged distress ink in Peacock Feathers and Antique Linen on the outside of the Tiffany frame to add visual dimension.

The little yellow Spiral Flowers were colored with distress ink and the pink ones were colored with Glimmer Mist.  I rolled them with the paper roller from the blossom tool kit.  I love these little flowers, they are perfect for cards!

The frames were created with Spellbinders Labels Eight and Spellbinders dies which can be special ordered from the Classy Cards 'n Such store by emailing Beverly.

CBD Magnolia Mermaid

This is my card for the new weekly challenge over at Crafting by Designs.  Come on over and join the fun!

I stamped the mermaid with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored her with copics.  I cut the Memory Box wave twice and layered one on top of the other slightly off-set so the color would show through. I sponged blue distress ink into the wave area to soften the transition and make her look as though she is riding the waves.

I bought the little rhinestone stars and flower from a seller on ebay.  The teal flower had been left over from another project and I'm not sure the brand of die used.  It was sprayed with glimmer mists to get that shine.  The rolled lavender flower is from MFT and the small rolled flower is from La La Land.

I covered her fin with Aleene's paper glaze to give her a little shine.  Thanks for looking!

Classy Cards Sunflower Garden

Hi!  This is my take on the Sunflower Inspired Challenge at Classy Cards 'n Such.  Get inspired like I was by this great inspiration photo and come play along for a chance to win a beautiful Impression Obsession Stamp!

I wanted to use colors from the challenge photo and I had planned to use red, yellow and white. The card ended up going a different direction and instead I used blues and greens.  I began by stamping the Impression Obsession Wooden Plank Cover-a-Card stamp on white card stock with tea dye distress ink.  I sponged over it with weathered wood distress ink to get that blue color.  To further age the look of the planks and get a little more texture, I sponged more tea dye ink over a Memory Box Pattern Tula Stencil.

I used the same stencil on the center front panel which was cut with a Spellbinders labels Eighteen die and popped up with Joy! Foam Pads.  The center was sponged with weathered wood and mustard seed distress inks.

Susan's Garden Daisy Die was used to make the sunflowers (they probably look a bit more like black-eyed-Susan's) and colored them with Susan's Garden Pan Pastel's.  The pan pastels are amazing to work with - the colors are so vibrant.  I've seen videos of them being used but they really are amazing in person.  The color saturation is incredible. Classy Cards currently sells two different color sets.

The leaves are from the Spellbinders Foliage die (since the Daisy leaves looked too different from Sunflower leaves).  The foliage was also colored with Susan's Garden Pan Pastels.  I shaped the flowers and leaves using flower molding tools from two Paper Blossoms Tool Kits.  The sentiment is from JustRite Poppies Labels 29 and was stamped using black Memento Ink.  The doily behind the flowers is a Memory Box Buckle and the red frame is a Spellbinders Labels Die.

To add a little sparkle (not sure I can make a card without some bling) I added Stickles to the front petals of the flower and also to the flower centers.  After the Stickles dried I went over the centers of the flowers with a black Viva Decor pen to add dimension and also to create more interest.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please join us at CCNS for this fun challenge, I can't wait to see what you create!

HM Cheese Wishes

Hello!  This is my latest (and last) Guest DT spot over at the House Mouse & Friends Challenge.  The latest challenge theme is Food, Glorious Food!. You have two weeks to play, they always have great inspiration and fabulous prizes, so what are you waiting for?  :) Hope you can pop over and play along!

I was planning on using my HM blueberry tart stamp but when I finally sat down to work I couldn't find the image I'd colored.  I chose this as a replacement because I haven't used the stamp yet and it was quick to color.

I think I was in a sunflower mood after working on my latest Classy Cards 'n Such DT card for the Sunflower Inspired Challenge. I don't usually use a lot of yellow but when it comes to mice and cheese, I didn't think pink would be very appealing.  :)

I was inspired by a Mojo Monday sketch I found on Pinterest.  Thanks for looking and I can't wait to see what yummy creations you create!

Classy Cards It's Your Day

Hello!  This card came together much differently than I'd envisioned but I always seem to be drawn to pinks and greens and this was the result.

I cut the Spellbinders Picot Edge Circle out of white card stock and sponged with pink distress ink.  The main white circle was cut from a Spellbinders Classic Circles Large die after I'd glued the Memory Box Fresh Foliage and Tall Chloe Stem die cuts to it.  Rolling everything through my Big Shot made the die cuts almost look like pressed flowers.

I cut a third Tall Chloe Stem and added it on top to add more dimension.  I didn't glue down the tops of the top flower to the card stock so it would pop off the page.  The Tall Chloe Stems were colored with pink distress ink and covered with clear glitter glue.  I also added pink flat-back pearls to the flowers for a little extra interest.

The sentiment is from a Flourishes stamp set and was cut out with a punch.  I used Joy! Foam Pad's to adhere it to the Memory Box label die cut which was also colored with distress ink.  The butterfly was cut from a piece of pink scrap paper.  I colored the ends darker with a Distress Ink Marker, added Stickles to the wings and attached it to the card with Joy! Foam Pads.

Classy Cards Love Blossoms

Hi!  The new Classy Cards Home is Where the Heart Is Challenge made me think of this Spellbinders Hearts Circle die.  I found this scrap of paper that has a small heart pattern, paired it with the die, added the Memory Box Honey Blossom Sprig and voila!

I colored the pink background paper and Honey Blossom Sprig with Copics.  After I cut the Hearts Circle, I added green distress ink to the center using the die as a stencil.  The Justrite sentiment was stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I cut extra flowers with the Honey Blossom Sprig die, colored them and popped them up with Joy! Foam Pads.  The hearts added to the flower were the extra negative pieces from the largest Heart Circle in the Spellbinders set.  I glued together three hearts before coloring and gluing them into position.  I like the extra dimension of the stacked die cuts.

Last I added a little sparkle with a Wink of Stella Pen and added a piece of string from my stash.  Thanks for stopping by and I'm looking forward to seeing your creations.  Come and join the fun at Classy Cards N' Such for a chance to win a great prize!

Classy Cards Butterfly Wishes

I loved this Memory Box Kensington Branch die as soon as I saw it but once I got it I really wasn't sure how to use it.  Now that I've played a bit I think it can be used on almost anything (in place of flourishes, just using the butterflies, as a tree, etc.).

To create this card I cut the die three times to get extra butterflies and flowers. Two of the butterflies were triple cut and one is double cut.  I sprayed the red the flowers and butterflies with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Cranberry Zing.  Then I dipped the butterfly edges back into the extra spray on my craft mat so they'd be darker.  If you look closely the butterflies have a mottled color because some of the white card stock shows through the center where the spray was thinner.

The Spellbinders Labels Four die was used for the sentiment which is from Justrite.  The label was popped up with Joy Foam Pads. Distress ink was sponged around the edges of the sentiment using the die as a stencil.

The branches and bottom butterfly were colored with copics.  To finish off the butterflies I used stickles on the edges of each layer.  When I glued the branch to the card base I didn't add glue to the leaves and then after the branch was glued in place I pulled up the leaves. Here's a more detailed view.

CBD Soccer Star

Hi, this is my inspiration card for the new Crafting By Designs Polka Dots Challenge.  I colored some of the items with Copics and distressed the net with Distress Ink.  I used a lot of foam tape to add dimension.

I made this for my daughter's teammate.  The team name is the Lilacs and the color is purple.  I'd been playing around with this new die for awhile and left card pieces laying around because nothing seemed to work.  Finally, an hour before I actually needed the card it came together.  I hope you can join us and thank you for stopping by!

Classy Cards Tea Rose

Hello, This is my inspiration card for Classy Cards 'n Such's latest One, Two, Three Challenge.  I used ONE stamp, TWO designer papers and THREE rhinestones.

I began by coloring this Sarah Kay image with Copics.  Isn't she sweet?  Stampavie isn't making stamps anymore but I was so lucky to pick up a couple of these Sarah Kay stamps at the Classy Cards store.   I used the Spellbinders Radiant Rectangles die to cut out the main image and then used it as a stencil to color around the image with distress ink.  I used Joy! Foam Pad's to pop her up for added dimension.

Next I cut the rose paper from Bo Bunny's Prairie Chic paper using a Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles die and layered it behind the main image. The striped paper is also from the Praire Chic paper pad and is popped higher off the blue card stock with foam pads.  The blue card stock used on the bow and background paper was colored with a Copic B12 marker to match the blue of her dress.

I cut the Impression Obsession Large Bow and popped it up with Joy! Foam pads. The rose was cut out of white cardstock, colored with distress ink and then rolled using a quilling tool from the McGill Paper Blossom Tool Kit.  I adhered the rose on top of the bow with another foam pad.

Last, I added the three little rhinestones and colored in her apron using the Wink of Stella pen.  Her apron shines.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you join us in the 1,2, 3 challenge for a chance to win a great prize!

HM Say Cheese

Hi, I created this for the new House Mouse & Friends Monday  "No Coloring of Images" Challenge that begins today.   This is my third guest design spot.  Come and join me and the rest of the DT (their samples are always amazing!).

I thought the No Coloring theme would be perfect with this camera stamp but after I had all of the elements together I really wanted to add color to that piece of cheese.  I got around it by paper piecing the cheese and popping it up with foam tape.

This card was simple to create and quick to put together since there was no actual coloring.  The film strip die is from Taylored Expressions.  Thanks for stopping by!

Classy Cards Chloe Blooms

Hi, this is my inspiration card for the Classy Cards 'n Such "Its Okay To Be Negative" Challenge. This is a perfect challenge for Clean and Simple style cards and I hope you can play along this week.

My recipe was simple.  Start with a detailed die like the Memory Box Tall Chloe Stem used here and then add an attractive designer paper behind it.  I used Bo Bunny's Prairie Chic paper.  I used Joy! Foam pads to pop up both layers off the main card.

To add a bit of sparkle I randomly added Love 2 Scrap Mother of Pearl Rhinestones.  They are adhesive which was perfect and so easy to add into the blue negative space.  I also added matching sequins.

CBD Vintage Butterfly

Hi!  This is my card for Crafting By Designs Vintage/Shabby Chic Challenge this week.  Come on over and join in the fun.  I can't wait to see what you create, I usually have a tough time with vintage designs and could really use the inspiration!

I used Impression Obsession's Cover-a-Card stamp for the background with two colors of distress ink.  The lacey frame is the Japanese Lace die from Cheery Lynn Designs.  The flowers were cut from a Spellbinders die and colored with distress ink before rolling with a quilling tool.  The leaves are from a Cottage Cutz die and were colored with Copics.  The brown flower is a lollipop cutie fringe die from Cheery Lynn.  The sentiment is from Impression Obsession and the butterfly is from Memory Box.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Classy Cards Butterfly Blues

Good morning!  Sometimes you just need a quick card.  I was inspired by the Classy Cards challenge It's Okay to be Negative.   I tend to use flowers on almost all my cards but as soon as I saw the challenge I thought of butterflies.

I used a wash of Twinkling H20's on the background.  The entire card shimmers!  After the card dried I flicked extra paint off the end of my paintbrush to get a paint-splatter effect.

The butterfly was cut using the Memory Box Swirl Butterfly die.  I trimmed the top layer 1/2 inch smaller than the A2 card base but did it after I'd painted and cut the butterfly to make sure I liked the way the butterfly was centered.  I also used my paintbrush to flick clear glossy accents across the top of the card. There are patches of clear dimensional shimmer which makes it look almost wet in spots.

Last, I glued the butterfly into position before popping up the top layer around and over her. Thanks for stopping by!

Dies R Us Happiest Birthday

Good morning!  This is my second post today and latest card for the Dies R Us Birthday challenge.  Come and join the fun for a chance to win a voucher to the Dies R Us Store and a Top 3 badge!

I made this for a friend who has a Summer birthday.  It was fun figuring out how to layer all these lacy dies.  The largest flower was cut from the Cheery Lynn Frangipani die.  I thought this card needed something that looked more like a rose so I turned it into one using some flower shaping tools.  The pink flowers were colored using Glimmer Mists.  Thanks for looking!

Classy Cards Girly Gingham

For the current Gingham Challenge at Classy cards 'n Such all that kept coming to mind were baby cards (especially baby girl cards.  Everyone around me is having girls this Summer!

I cut the Memory Box Precious Mobile die three times with white, pink and yellow card stock. The white mobile was used as the base and then I took pieces of the pink and yellow die cuts and glued them on top to add dimension.  I like how the dangling hearts and stars match the other paper perfectly.

I used two different sizes of the Spellbinders Floral Ovals die and popped up each layer with Joy! Foam Pads.  The Spellbinders Floral Ovals made the perfect lacy backdrop for a girl card. The yellow gingham oval was cut using the central oval from the Spellbinders Filigree Delight die.

To add a bit of glitz, I glued rhinestones using Art Institute's glue with ultrafine tip to some of the hearts and stars on the mobile.  This tip is perfect for small areas.  Thanks for stopping by!
