Classy Cards Birthday Wishes

Hello!   Lately I've been inspired by cards on Pinterest.  It's such a fun site and did you know that Classy Cards 'n Such has it's own Pinterest boards?  You can check them out HERE!

The only stamp I used is the huge Impression Obsession Cover-a-Card Wooden Plank.  I stamped it in vintage photo distress ink and then sponged weathered wood ink over it.  The entire panel was glued to a piece of Kraft Card Stock and then mounted onto an A2 card.

The Memory Box Trellis Border Die was colored with antique linen and pumice stone distress inks. The pink flowers were cut with the Spellbinders Rose Creations die but you could get a similar look using the gorgeous new Heartfelt Creations Arianna Blooms die Classy Cards now has in stock.  I'm crossing my fingers that it doesn't sell out before my next order!  :)

The flowers were cut from white card stock.  The edges were sponged with pink distress ink and misted with Tattered Angels Pearl Glimmer Mist. While still damp, I stacked the flower layers and then scrunched them up being careful not to rip the petals.  Scrunching gives them a more tattered, vintage feel.  I waited until they dried and then glued the layers together.  I used about four flower petals pieces per flower.  They were popped up using Joy! Foam pads for extra dimension.

The Memory Bamboo Shoots leaves were cut out of Wausau Index Green card stock and colored with peeled paint distress ink.  The Joy! Crafts Billie's Branches were colored with shaded lilac distress ink. I sponged pink  distress ink on the Memory Box Whimsy Circle and antique linen distress ink on the Memory Box Quinn Flourish die cut and glued them to the card before positioning and gluing the flowers, Billie's Flourish Branch and the Bamboo.

The Birthday Wishes sentiment die was colored with distress ink to match the bamboo shoots and are from an Impression Obsession Greetings Set.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Classy Cards Best in You

I created this card for our latest challenge at Classy Cards 'n Such.  I was so inspired by the wonderful Cozy Plaids Challenge photo.  I began by looking through my stash of design papers.  I love these papers by Bo Bunny and Graphic 45, I can always find something for every occasion.

After choosing coordinating paper I still needed a focal point.  I found this adorable Stampavie Sarah Kay Sofia Wishes stamp that I hadn't inked yet and I thought her "Holly Hobby" look was perfect for a warm/plaids challenge.

I stamped her using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored her with Copics in reds, oranges and yellows to compliment the design papers.  I cut the image using the largest Spellbinders Labels Eighteen Die and then used the die as a stencil to sponge yellow distress ink around the image to soften the central panel.

I found nautical Cheery Lynn Wheeler Doily Die left over from another project.  It's out of stock at the Classy Cards store but there are some other lovely Cheery Lynn doily dies in stock.  Right now all Cheery Lynn dies are 50% off with coupon code Cheery50.

I sponged distress ink around the edge of the yellow doily to add a touch of red.  The sentiment is from JustRite's Floral Vintage Labels Two Stamp Set.  It was stamped in black ink and then cut out using a Spellbinders Classic Circles Small Die.  I also used the die as a stencil and sponged more yellow ink around the perimeter of the circle.  Softening up the edges and using Spellbinders dies as stencils might just be my favorite crafting technique.  :)

This is such as fun challenge and hope you can join us this week.  I can't wait to see your plaid inspired creations!

Classy Cards Oh, Deer!

I made this card for the newest Classy Cards 'n Such "Santa's Reindeer" challenge.  This is a shaker card and was very simple to create.  I started with a 5.5"x5.5" square gray card and then cut each of the white and patterned paper layers a quarter of an inch smaller than the previous layer.

I cut the beautiful delicate frame from the PoppyStamps Claudette Frame die.  I then glued the white die cut to the soft pink patterned paper from the Love Letters paper pad and then cut out the center using a Spellbinders Classic Squares Small die.

I cut another square out of white card stock using the same Spellbinders square die and then embossed the square with the Anna Griffin Cherry Blossom embossing folder.  The flower burst embossed pattern reminds me of snowflakes.  I glued the white embossed square to the center of the large white layer so the embossing would show through the window.

I glued the gray Impression Obsession Deer off-center to the embossed square and then sprinkled loose clear iridescent snowflakes over him.  The edges of the deer's antlers and feet were brushed with Tea Dye Distress Ink.

I glued a clear plastic square (left over from packaging) to the reverse of the Love Letters pink paper, then formed a square around the underside of the central opening with foam tape.  I turned the panel right side up and pressed down on the foam tape to get a nice seal around the interior shaker box.

IO Peace

I made this card for a few challenges.  I stamped both IO cover a card background stamps with distress ink on white card stock and then adhered the layer to a piece of kraft card stock. The berries are red flat-back pearls.  The twig wreath was cut out of kraft card stock and then sponged with vintage photo distress ink so it would stand out more against the background. The bow was covered with red stickles so it really glitters and it's popped up with foam tape.

Thanks for looking!

Classy Cards Pretty Pia

Hello!  I love these sweet Sarah Key stamps from Stampavie.  This Pia Stamp reminds me of the Holly Hobby doll I had when I was little.  I'm so sad that Stampavie has closed it's doors but a few of these adorable stamps are still available at the Classy Cards store!

I don't use a lot of yellows or oranges on my cards so I thought I'd try something different. The mats were created using Spellbinders Radient Rectangles and Elegant Rectangles.  I don't think I've ever mixed them on a card before but I liked the result.

The card base was a light blue that was colored darker with distress ink. The panel behind the main image was cut from Kraft Paper.  The main image was colored with Copics.

It's difficult to see in the photo but the bow in her hair has a Mother of Pearl Rhinestone center and was painted with a Wink of Stella Glitter Pen.

Thanks for visiting!

Classy Cards Poppy Passion

Hello!  I was inspired by the colors and patterns in the inspiration photo for the latest Stripes, Dots & Chevrons Challenge at Classy Cards 'n Such.  I love this JustRite Poppy stamp and instead of the usual red I thought I'd try coloring it with more orange-toned Copics.

I stamped the image with black Memento ink and cut around the flowers that would fall outside of the Spellbinders Small Oval die perimeter.  I cut the image with the oval die, making sure to leave out all the flowers and leaves that fell beyond the perimeter out of the circle while I rolled it through my Big Shot.

Once it was cut, I colored the image and glued it down on top of a larger white spellbinders oval.  The ovals were popped up using Joy! Foam Pads.  The corner dies were from the Joy! Frame and Three Corners die set.  The Just Because sentiment (I love that cursive font) is from the JustRite Floral Vintage Labels stamp set.

To finish I added a little glitz by dotting a gold Viva Decor pen in the centers of the poppies.  The shine is so pretty and the gold pen created little raised dots, perfect for a little something extra on a card.

Thanks for stopping by and I can't wait to see your challenge cards.  Come join the fun at Classy Cards this week!

Classy Cards Baptism Blessings

Hi!  I wanted to make a frilly card for a friend's daughter's Baptism and this is what I designed.  I originally just made the card using the Spellbinders Floral Oval die but I decided to back the whole die on white A2 sized card stock so it would be easier to display.

The only opening in this card is the floral oval.  I used an A2 size top-fold card with the Spellbinders Floral Oval die making sure to push the die up a bit higher than the top of the card stock so the top wouldn't be cut all the way.  This way I still had a card with a folded uncut edge and not just a die-cut.  I then cut the Spellbinders Floral Oval a second time out of a single piece of white card stock and glued this piece to the front of the folding oval to mask the fact that the top of the other card was not a complete cut.

I used the smaller oval in the set to create the top oval which I popped up using Joy! Foam Pads.  I cut the cross from a Spellbinders die (that Beverly can special order from the CCNS Store).  I used the cross as a stencil and colored it with distress ink.

The inside of the card is stamped with a blessings sentiment and flat-backed white pearls were added to the front for extra interest.  This was a really quick card to create.

Classy Cards Hello Autumn

Hi! I was inspired by the beautiful Classy Cards Challenge photo to use this Impression Obsession Small Leaf die set.  It makes such a wonderful assortment of little leaves.

I cut leaves out of yellow, green and red card stock and then sponged them with distress ink to reflect a more realistic appearance of leaves turning color.

I originally planned to use a twig wreath die but changed my mind because I just couldn't wait to play with this new Joy! Circle die.  Isn't it beautiful?  The swirls are so delicate and the die cut cleanly in my big shot without a metal shim.  It comes with two flourishes and a center circle so it can be used with or without the center and you can layer like a nesting die. The CCNS store has some new Joy! dies in stock and they are all lovely.

I cut the Joy! Circle out of white card stock, sponged it with distress ink and then cut out  the center using the corresponding smaller circle die from the set.  I cut the center because I wanted Graphic 45's  Botanical Tea background paper to show through.

The Large Bow and Hello dies are both from Impression Obsession.  They were cut out of colored card stock and then sponged with distress ink.  The bow was popped up with a Joy! Foam Pad and I added a flat back pearl for a touch of class.

Thanks for looking and I hope you can join us in this great new challenge!

DRU Back to School

Good morning, this is a card I made for our Back to School Challenge at Dies R Us.  You have two weeks to enter your project and the challenge begins today so head on over to join us for some fun!

I made the card above for my son's teacher and the one below for my daughter's teacher.  They were colored with copics and the image is from Crafter's Companion.  It was one stamped image that I cut in two. These cards ended up being very quick to create and I like how the dark background really helps to make the main images stand out.

Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard Circle Large

I love these La La Land banners.  They are big enough for a number of sentiments and fold perfectly to give a great 3D embellishment.  It's really a perfect staple die.

Did you know that if Dies R Us doesn't have what you're looking for in stock, they frequently re-stock items and if you put yourself on the waiting list you'll be notified when items are back in stock?

Thanks for stopping by!
